Louis Tomlinson and Steve Aoki are busy lads as they take on Los Angeles doing promo for their single ‘Just Hold On’. They’ve been on a number of radio shows this week and next week the pair will visit The Today Show and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Since the song debuted just days after Louis’ mother passed away, it’s been the mission of One Direction fans to make sure it got the recognition it deserved. The song is a tribute to Johannah but can also be a sign of light and hope for anyone struggling, as Louis mentioned in an interview just days ago.

“You’ve just got to fight and stay positive and don’t sit on your ass and feel sorry for yourself and just say I will make something up and I will make it better.”

This morning Steve and Louis talked to Carson Daly on 97.1 AMP Radio about their chance Vegas meet up, the success and passion put into the song, and how much they’re fans of each other.

Steve brought up a solid point about music and how he looks at other genres and artists. Quite simply, he likes what he likes, and when it came to Louis and One Direction, he wasn’t afraid to say he was a fan. He liked them before and now after working with Louis, it’s clear to see that they’ve got an incredible friendship and fate truly aligned to bring them together.

Louis went on to say that he wasn’t sure if he even wanted to do music of his own during the hiatus but once it came together, it made sense. While he describes the song as one about not feeling sorry for yourself, it clearly means as much to him and his mom as it does to fans across the world. Carson respected boundaries during his interview and didn’t push too much into Louis’ deeply personal connection to the tune, but regardless, it is a song for hope and it is the song that Johannah encouraged Louis to make. She didn’t want him to give up.

Fan reaction to the tune and their project together was discussed again and both lads are still completely blown away by how supportive and incredible the fans remain, how dedicated they are to spreading the message about the tune.

While the full interview will be online shortly, you can find clips on social media now and don’t forget to check out Steve’s snapchat for behind the scenes peeks at what they’re up to today, like this one.
