Ricardo Madrid, the group's director and keyboardist, and Leo Neblina, the bassist, have both been confirmed dead.

The Sun said that the men were more than just musicians. They held positions of leadership in the Somerton and San Luis villages, which were located along the border between Arizona and Mexico.

For more than 20 years, Madrid had worked for the Somerton School District. He oversaw the district's Adult Education division.

Neblina worked for the Yuma County-based Gadsden School District as a music instructor and mariachi band conductor. He also performed with the Yuma Jazz Company band, where he played bass.

Yuma Sun Band Members

Along with the drummer Mario Hernandez, the band also includes Martin Peralta, Jesus Cordova, Reynaldo Rodriguez, Jaime Arce, and Alexander Yanez.

The band's involvement in what was previously reported as a traffic collision led to the cancellation of their concert, United Wireless Arena stated at 1 p.m. on Friday.

What Did Yuma’s Spanish Language Say About the Incident?

When the band's first post-pandemic tour began in 2021, Yuma's Spanish-language daily "Baja del Sol" cited Madrid as saying, "It's going to be great to travel together to different places and get to know them. As this will be our first entirely on-the-road tour, having a truck would enable us to take our instruments and equipment with us instead of having to rent them wherever we go.

Although the location of the accident was still unknown as of Friday night, it's possible that the truck contributed to the black ice anywhere along the drivers' route to Dodge City.
