England beat Wales 3-0 on Tuesday to win Group B and advance to the knockout stages of the tournament.

Danny Ward reacted well to a Harry Kane through ball, diving at Rashford’s feet to stop a first-half goal. Foden then missed a good chance. Gareth Bale was then forced off at half-time with an injury.

But after half-time, the game swung. Rashford hit a brilliant free-kick before Foden fired past Ward to double England’s lead. The Manchester United forward bagged England’s third to further establish his claims for a starting berth against Senegal.

Elsewhere, the USMNT beat Iran to reach the last-16.

When will England play Senegal in the last-16?

England’s match against Senegal in the last-16 at the World Cup will take place on Sunday, December 4 at 7pm GMT. That’s 2pm ET or 11am PT.

The key moment of England vs Wales

Gareth Southgate’s half-time tactical switch. He moved Phil Foden over to the left and Marcus Rashford to the right and both immediately looked more comfortable in those positions.

That was shown both in their performances and the goals they managed to score from open play as the half wore on.

Player of the match — Marcus Rashford

Remarkably, that’s what two goals in a three-goal win will do for a player.

Marcus Rashford was superb throughout and deserved to be named as the player of the match.

What does it mean?

The result, as alluded to above, means England have finished top of their group at the World Cup. They will therefore play the runners-up in Group B, Senegal.
